About Mercy
The slow tempo beat ‘Mercy’ is the first song that Mavel D have written. This track heralded her first artistic and personal approach to songwriting. It was written initially in a Hillsong church songwriting session in Brisbane, Australia, where she moved for in 2017. She was inspired by religious imagery to elevate a romantic connection with oneself, as a part of a healing process to have mercy for oneself body and soul when we wake up empty as things are out of control. It helps to always have in mind that even though sometimes you feel wracked, and you feel you are not enough you deserve Mercy for your body and soul. It’s more than ok to be alone, search for yourself to find yourself. The lyrics convey a deep sense of longing and emotional turmoil. The narrator expresses feelings of emptiness and a desperate need for connection, repeatedly calling out for someone significant in their life. This yearning is intertwined with themes of doubt and fear of loss, highlighting the struggle between wanting to be alone and the need for companionship. The imagery of searching for one′s soul reflects an internal battle, emphasizing the importance of communication and understanding in relationships. It was released the 1st of July of 2020.
Mercy Lyrics by MAVEL D
(Intro)
Baby, baby!
Where are you now?
Now, I’m calling, calling
I’m calling, calling
I’m calling and you are beeping, beeping, beeping
I’m calling and you are beeping, beeping, beeping, beeping
Where are you now?
Oh! Where are you?
(Verse 1)
Now, I’m calling, begging for mercy for my body and soul
I woke up and I felt empty like nothing is under control
I just wanna free my soul
I don’t want this emptiness
I’m begging you to answer me, answer me, answer me now!
I need to hear your voice
Just a word of comprehension
I’m begging you to set me free
To set me free
(Verse 2)
It’s been a long time, I know
Maybe I should have called time ago
But I wanted to be alone, searching for the place where I belong
But now I hate this feeling, this sensation of doubt
And fear of losing you
(Chorus)
Now, I’m calling, begging for mercy for my body and soul
I woke up and I felt empty like nothing is under control
I just wanna free my soul
I don’t want this emptiness
I’m begging you to answer me, answer me, answer me now
I need to hear your voice
Just a word of comprehension
I’m begging you to set me free
(Bridge)
Oh! Oh!
To set me free
Oh! Oh!
(Verse 3)
I was blind to see what you mean to me
Mercy empowers me
I beg on my knees
(Final Chorus)
This is my calling, begging for mercy for my body and soul
I woke up and I felt empty like nothing is under control
Under control. Oh!
I just wanna free my soul
I don’t want this emptiness
I’m begging you to answer me, answer me, answer me now
I need to hear your voice
Just a word of comprehension
I’m begging you to set me free
(Outro)
I was blind to see what you mean to me
Mercy empowers me
I beg on my knees
